The Cross
God's Love
The power of the work done by Jesus Christ on the Cross is incomprehensible. This one act by our Lord Jesus Christ reunited ALL MANKIND to our God. We are all saved and going to Heaven. Our choice on earth is whether or not to live our lives in the love of Christ and continue in Christ's fidelity (pistis) towards God the Father.
What Now?
What's Next
All of creation is reconciled to God… So, what’s next? Love God and love mankind with un-expectant love. “Hell” is when you focus on I. All evil in life is based on people focusing on “I” and justifying their actions.
The basis of our relationship with God is His infinite Love. Sin robs God of the relationship He paid for by the Blood of Christ on the Cross. As Barth said in The Epistle to the Romans...
"Sin is a robbing of God: a robbery which becomes apparent in our arrogant endeavour to cross the line of death by which we are bounded (i. 18, 19); in our drunken blurring of the distance which separates us from God; in our forgetfulness of His invisibility; in our investing of men with the form of God, and of God with the form of man; and in our devotion to some romantic infinity, some 'No – God' of this world, which we have created for ourselves. And all the time we are oblivious that we must die in ungodliness and unrighteousness."
Cornelius "Neal" Plantinga, of Calvin Theological Seminary, says sin is the “Culpable disturbance of shalom.” Sin is the breaking of the peace that God designed.
"In sum, shalom is God’s design for creation and redemption; sin is blamable human vandalism of these great realities and therefore an affront to their architect and builder."
Scot McKnight, of Northern Baptist Theological Seminary, points out that humanity was created as image-bearers, Eikons, to live in four harmonious relationships: to God, others, self, and creation.
Romans 6:12-14
12 Therefore do not let sin reign in your mortal body, so that you obey its desires. 13 And do not offer any parts of it to sin as weapons for unrighteousness. But as those who are alive from the dead, offer yourselves to God, and all the parts of yourselves to God as weapons for righteousness. 14 For sin will not rule over you, because you are not under law but under grace.
